Each Program we offer: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard, and Vocal, have program specific goals related to their specific instrument and their place in the musical world.

This page outlines our Core ROCKICULUM for all our students.Jokeboys.tmp/IMG_0104.jpg

Our ROCKICULUM includes:

  • Once a Week, 45 minute Private Lesson: This is one-on-one private instruction -- the ONLY way to ensure that students are progressing appropriately, working on areas in need of improvement and not learning bad habits. Students work on technique, practice methods and learning the repertoire that he/she will perform at the end of semester ROCKIVERSITY MONSTER CONCERT.

  • Once a week, 2 hr ROCK BAND rehearsal: This is probably the most important learning experience we offer. Every week, every student at ROCKIVERSITY participates in a 3 hour ROCK BAND rehearsal. They now rehearse, as bands, the songs they’ve been studying in their private lessons. Students will be mixed and matched regularly with others so that each student can have the experience of rehearsing with many different musicians. The musical director will review band rehearsal techniques, how to prepare for a rehearsal and how to run an efficient rehearsal with multiple musicians. As well, the important subject of personal interaction strategies will be discussed. Students need not only to know how to play their instrument well, but how to get along with others in a creative working atmosphere.

  • 'ROCK CLASS' meeting: "Rock Class" will take on different forms. These forms will include: "Internet class" assignments; Live master classes in rhythm study, sight reading, sight singing, song writing, chart writing, music take-downs, rock music theory, rock music history, etc;  As well, from time to time, each student will have a private class to see where they are and to determine in what areas they may need further study. This is also a chance for students to ask questions and clear up any areas of concern they may encounter in their music education.

  • End of Semester Concert - ROCKIVERSITY MONSTER CONCERT: All our study leads us here. At the end of every semester every student will have the opportunity to perform all the songs they have been studying in the ROCKIVERSITY MONSTER CONCERT - a rock concert at a professional venue. The learning experiences of preparing for and taking part in a live performance are invaluable and can be taught no other way than by participation.
